in-tangible institute is proud to announce that Blake Palmer has taken on the role of Program Director, overseeing and developing in-tangible’s community programming. Blake has been a part of the in-tangible institute team for more than a year, contributing to the Talking & Listening, POLLINATION ed. 4, and Creative-in-Residence programs, alongside many upcoming programs still in development. Blake also served as project manager and editor for the LIVING AN
OTHER FUTURE exhibition catalog, produced in collaboration with MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum.

 

Zoe Butt will continue to oversee in-tangible institute as Director at Large, in addition to her new role as Artistic Director for deCentral.

 

in-tangible institute looks forward to working with Blake towards its mission to build a diverse interdisciplinary ecology for the arts in and from Chiang Mai, towards growth of Southeast Asian networks, through mentorship, educational programs, strategic advice, and industry consultation.

Blake Palmer is a writer and cultural critic based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, working primarily on Southeast Asian contemporary art. He is interested in the intersection of culture, power, and art as a vector of sociopolitical critique. His academic work as an independent researcher and graduate student at Chiang Mai University focuses on ecology and indigenous foodways in the Southeast Asian context.

His recent work includes contemporary art analysis for Art Monthly Australasia, Southeast of Now: Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art in Asia, Aura Asia Art Project, and Art & Market, as well as multispecies ethnographic work for e-Flux Journal.
